You’ve probably noticed that spas and other places of relaxation are always adorned with many scented candles. It is not for decoration but because they have a real influence on our well-being. During a yoga session, the scented candle is almost indispensable and we will explain why.

Why use a candle for yoga practice?

Because our daily lives are so stressful, it is important to take a few minutes to focus on your well-being. And nothing like a yoga session in symbiosis with one (or more) scented candles.

A successful yoga session is one where the atmosphere is relaxed, soothing and calming. The scented candle will help you to create this atmosphere. A true invitation to relax, it quickly transports you to a true haven of peace.

Stimulators of relaxation and inner peace, scented candles have a direct effect on your mind but also on your body. His dancing, flickering flame quickly becomes hypnotic.

The delicate scents that emanate from the candle during its burning will promote letting go, detachment and serenity. Some fragrances have anti-stress, calming and relaxing properties.

Tangerine candle

The use of a scented candle is often recommended to those who are just starting out, to people who have difficulty concentrating or focusing their attention.

You will have understood, the scented candle is much more than an accessory for the practice of yoga but a real ally to let yourself be carried away in a moment of well-being.

The candle, real accessory of the Tratak technique

Tratak (or Trataka) is an ancient yoga technique that consists in fixing an object to improve one’s well-being. It is most often performed with a scented candle. Its benefits are numerous: to soothe the eyes or the brain, to work on memory, to boost concentration or to manage balance.

The candle is the central element of this traditional meditation technique. Why? Simply because it is a perfect tool to focus the eyes on the flame and allow our mind to enter a relaxed atmosphere.

The Tratak consists of lighting a candle that you place about 1 meter in front of you. Then sit upright with your back straight and your hands on your knees. Close your eyes at first, calm your mind, concentrate and breathe calmly.

Now open your eyes and stare at the candle without blinking. When your eyes start to leak, close them. Place the palms of your hands on your eyes. The image of the flame is frozen in your mind. Hold this image as long as possible.

After a few minutes, you should close your eyes and try to see it. The result of this technique is clear. You simply feel good.

Which perfume to choose for your yoga session?

It is important to choose the right scented candle for a gentle activity like yoga. To achieve the most serene state of well-being possible during a yoga session, choose scented candles that diffuse scents throughout the room.

The choice of fragrances is also essential. It must be done according to the desired result. An orange blossom scented candle, a delicate tangerine scent, a lavender candle, are all invitations to relaxation.

But choosing a scented candle for yoga practice is a personal choice. If some people prefer orange blossom candles, for example, others are more comfortable with a tangerine candle. It is therefore often necessary to test several before finding the one that will accompany your moments of well-being.
