Côté Bougie was founded by Saïda Kadiri, an artist who believes in her dreams. Her son, Omar Benabderrazik, who has a marketing background, joined 2 years later.
We are a family-run artisanal business based in Marrakech, and more specifically Sidi Ghanem. Our collections, which combine traditional know-how with modern design, pay homage to Moroccan artisans and their age-old techniques.
When Saïda Kadiri left Casablanca for Marrakech, she wanted to find a meaningful occupation that would satisfy her creative ambitions. And so she decided to make candles. She then joined her son in Tours, where he was studying, and attended a technical training course. Upon returning to Morocco, she stepped things up a gear and hired a few employees.
One day, a customer placed a huge order for the United States. It was now or never. It was an impossible task by any reasonable standards, but she said yes. After several days of working around the clock, she managed to fulfil the order. This was a huge step forward for Saïda, who then set up a large store and workshop in Sidi Ghanem.
We work with a female cooperative in Essaouira who help us with the hand-weaving of raffia. This enables them to work together in producing and selling their handiwork.
Our products are available in several fragrances: whether floral, gourmet or oriental, they each create a unique atmosphere, evoking the rich landscapes of Morocco. Our natural and subtle fragrances are imported from Grasse, the world's perfume capital.
"We work very well as a family unit, because we complement each other perfectly." Saïda KadiriSaïda Kadiri
